I have just arrived home after a month of three big trips- a family vacation, driving marathon to help my daughter arrive at her new home and move in, and a week long trade show.
Although I enjoyed all of these trips, I find that my focus is slightly out of whack right now. Today I am doing some things that need to be done- laundry, phone calls, emails, lunch and a trip to the post office. When I sit down to make my list, I think it’s time for an overall review of what my short and long term goals are. I don’t know if all of you struggle with this like I do, but I just HATE to say no when people ask me for help.
The beauty of running my own business is that I get to choose which direction I want to go, what projects to undertake and who I would like to work with. Don’t get me wrong, people aren’t knocking down the doors to hire me (that would be great though!), but I like that I have the option of deciding where I spend my time and energy. And hopefully, my heart (and art) will always be in what I create and not just a “job”. Next time we will talk about things I don’t like about being “the boss”. But for now, I am feeling good about where things are headed and once again thank God for the opportunity to do what I love!
