Badge box

When I went to my first trade show about six years ago, I noticed that the badge holder that you are given is not the most beautiful thing to wear around your neck. So I designed a box that will hold business cards, a tiny pen and some money along with your badge. I demo’d this box at the Craft Studio, a really cool booth that was manned (mostly womaned?) by CHA Designers, allowing each participant to show off their unique style. We had 30 minutes to show the crowd how our project was created.  This event was coordinated by none other than Candice Windham, one of our own Memory Keeping Collection bloggers! What a great job she did keeping us all on track- she coordinated booth set-up, made sure that our supplies were where we needed them, and gave generously of her time to make sure the event ran smoothly. Thanks Candice!

So here’s the project that I did.

You will need:

Instructions:

  1. Cut out box from matboard.
  2. Cut 5 flowers from extra matboard. Color three large flowers in aqua and the small flowers in green. Add botton accents.
  3. Run through Big Shot again, inserting box in Textured Impression folder so the design comes out on the bottom of the box.
  4. Assemble box with strong double sided tape.
  5. Glue to box flap.
  6. Add Velcro dots to flap and front of box.
  7. Add ribbon to side flap and secure with a piece of double sided tape.
  8. On back side of box, adhere badge. (Mine had to be trimmed slightly.)
  9. Add business cards and whatever else you need to have a great trade show!

The box I carry is slightly larger. I make a new box for every show. I think it says a lot about my style and is also a walking explanation for what I create. As a designer, it’s important for me to have something that catches people eyes. A badge is the first thing that people look at so the holder it comes in is an important statement. At shows, normally I do not bring a purse, just my rolling bag, but I can carry my hotel key, debit/credit card, some cash and a small pen in my badge box so I have everything I need at my fingertips! Here’s a shot of the one I made for this show. Vintage trim was added to the aqua box (my favorite color), embossing  at the bottom of the box, and pearls are used to make a necklace.

What use would you have for this box?
